The FAA conducts a Civil Airmen Survey each year to understand the demographics of pilot and non-pilot certificate holders in the United States. Their 2015 publication included statistics for women from 2006 to 2015.

Significant Statistics for Women in Aviation:
  1. Pilot Total: 36,101 in 2006 to 39,287 in 2015 (8% increase)
  2. Non Pilot Total: 128,192 in 2006 to 183,259 in 2015 (43% increase)
  3. 87% of Non Pilot Certificates are held by Flight Attendants
  4. Airline Transport: 5,071 in 2006 to 6,554 in 2015 (29% increase)
  5. Mechanic: 6,354 in 2006 to 8,419 in 2015 (32% increase)
